Lone Star Aero owner, Dennis Bernhard aviation history includes twenty-two years as the Service Parts Manager at the Mooney factory in Kerrville, Texas. His position at Mooney put him in charge of supporting Mooney Service Centers and aircraft owners.
He later became part of the ownership team at Mod Works, developing the largest Mooney modification shop in the country. Dennis also developed MAPCO, which at that time was the largest volume Mooney parts supplier in the country. He was instrumental in the development of some twenty Supplemental Type Certificates (STC) for Mooney aircraft.
Yearning to return to his native Texas Hill Country, Dennis Bernhard accepted the position of Service and Parts Manager for All American Aircraft. He later created Lone Star Aero in 1997 – establishing a place among the top three Mooney parts suppliers in the country. At the same time, becoming a Mooney Authorized Service Center.
Lone Star Aero became a leader in the sales of Mooney OEM parts in 1998. Now many Mooney owners, modification and repair facilities contact Lone Star Aero for a wide range of assistance, such as technical support and parts needs. In 2001, Lone Star Aero expanded their market to include avionics with dealership agreements with Garmin, Avidyne, Sandel, Century Flight, Insight, JPI, PS Engineering, Ryan International, WSI and more. In 2003, Lone Star Aero added to its services by becoming a Certified Cirrus Service Center.
Today, Lone Star Aero provides maintenance, repairs, modifications and avionics services to over 250 Mooney, Cirrus and other light aircraft annually.
Parts Department
Our Parts Department employs two qualified gentlemen who are willing to assist our customers.
Kevin Durkee is the Parts Manager who has been employed with Lone Star Aero for seven years. He is in charge of the operations of the Parts Department that requires maintaining adequate inventory. His responsibilities further include selling and shipping parts all over the world.
Service Department
Our Service and Avionics Department is a group of experienced mechanics that are eager and willing to assist you with your aircraft needs.
Steve Moreno is the Service Manager of Lone Star Aero. He is in charge of the daily operations of the Service Center. He has 15 years of aviation experience and a vast background in installing, troubleshoot ing and repairing Avionics. His background also includes his experience as Service Manager while at the Mooney Factory.
His team of mechanics has over 100 years of combined aircraft maintenance experience. Many have received training certificates from the Mooney and Cirrus Factory.
Leo Sarinana has 33 years of experience working on Mooney Aircraft. He was employed with the Mooney Airplane Company for more than 20 years. He specializes in annual inspections and general maintenance.
Scott Carney has 17 years of experience working on light single and twin general aviation aircraft. He also serves as our Chief Inspector. He has his Inspection Authorization and his Airframe and Power Plant License. He has attended the Cirrus Factory composite training for Keith Air Conditioning Systems.
David Ortiz has 16 years of experience working on Mooney, Cirrus and other aircraft. He is very familiar with airframe modifications, engine overhaul removal and installation, and troubleshooting.
Terry Ruckman has 6 years of experience and is known for her expertise in resealing fuel tanks and sealing and installing long-range fuel tanks.
